Weekly Photo Challenge: CREATE

Yesterday, my wife and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary. During our last anniversaries, we would be dining out and I would hand her a small gift.

But this year, I was on a night shift, for Pete’s sake! So we decided to have the dinner on another day. And the gift? I thought of something priceless and timeless. And this was what I did…

This video was supposedly on a “private” mode, so I’m really sorry for my non-Tagalog speaking readers, because the music is in Tagalog. And because this week’s photo challenge theme is CREATE, I’d like to share this with all of you.

Five years ago, we celebrated the union of two lives.

But the celebration continues to this day.

Weekly Photo Challenge: TODAY

The photo challenge this week says that I have to take a picture of something – now and today… without cheating! I found out today’s theme while at work so I decided to take pictures on my way home.

I came from a night shift so I thought the sun would be up when I come out of the hospital.

Before I went home, I dropped by the cafeteria and bought some vegetable noodles to bring home for breakfast.

On my way home. Our place is known as the City of Gardens because everywhere there is greeneries.

Taking a shot while on stoplight. The last intersection before my building.

Taking the stairs on my way to my unit on the fourth floor. Exercise.

The views from where I live.

The morning promises that it’s going to be a great day.

And when the world is about to start their day, mine’s ending. Time to sleep now. Have a great morning, everyone!

Weekly Photo Challenge: JOURNEY

In this journey called life, we should focus on each precious moments, rather than looking toward the future. Joy does not only come at the end of the road. It can be available now.

Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it. (Greg Anderson)

It may be when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey. (Wendell Berry)

It has never been, and never will be easy work! But the road that is built in hope is more pleasant to the traveler than the road built in despair, even though they both lead to the same destination. (Marion Zimmer Bradley)

I believe that life is a journey, often difficult and sometimes incredibly cruel, but we are well equipped for it if only we tap into our talents and gifts and allow them to blossom. (Les Brown)

It is better to travel well than to arrive. (Buddha)

We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey. (Stephen Covey)

The journey between what you once were and who you are now becoming is where the dance of life really takes place. (Barbara DeAngelis)

Weekly Photo Challenge: DISTORTED

The view was distorted by the water from the fountain, but it has a cool effect. Don’t you think so? 🙂

A Visit to the Zoo

My small family visited our local zoo.

Al Ain Wildlife Park and Resort/ Al Ain Zoo is a 400-hectare (988-acre) zoo located in the foothills of the Jebel Hafeet Mountains in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. It mainly comprises Arabian antelopes and oryx , eland , gazelle, lechwe and can be found in the tree shaded paddocks which offer excellent breeding conditions.

The zoo features a big cat house. Lions, pumas, black and spotted leopards and jaguars are found here. In addition to this, it also has a reptile house, monkey compounds, aquarium and aviary. (Wikipedia)

Hope you enjoy the photographs 🙂

The last part of our trip was the “Bird Show”. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to take good photographs of the eagles and falcons as they flew really fast.

It was a nice time and we hope to be back soon.

Day 11 at Yas Island

16 NOVEMBER 2011

Day 11 was basically the last day and the time for us to say goodbye to all my Formula 1 friends. We were not sure whether we’ll see each other again next year, because the group composition changes every year. Some who were with us during the first year didn’t make it on the second year. And some who were in the second F1 last year didn’t make it this year. I was lucky enough to be part of the 3 Formula 1s. I am glad to be part of this yearly event and I look forward to coming back next year.

But although it’s a welcome idea to be called again here next year, the truth is, if ever I ain’t get selected to come to Yas Island again, I won’t feel bad. I had my time for the last three years and I think other nurses can also have this rare opportunity to experience working in Yas.

But of course, to be selected as part of the Formula 1 medical team is not in my hands. The authorities there are the ones who choose, and if I get chosen again next year, that’s destiny 🙂

We checked out of the hotel by noon time and we were home by afternoon.

And before I end my Yas adventure story, I’ll leave you with some more pictures from around the island.

I am so intrigued by this building. I am not sure what it is, but the architecture is quite unique.

THE HOTELS AROUND

No one person can ever experience all that life has to offer. It is only through sharing - experiences, feelings, insights - that we can hope to grow beyond our own meager lifetime.

Nurses are tough people. But behind great nurses are inspirations to keep them doing what they need to do - TO CARE.

Nurse or non-nurse, please feel free to move around the site. Everybody needs inspirations to be encouraged every now and then.
