Around the World in 4.5 Hours

Yesterday, we visited the GLOBAL VILLAGE in Dubai.

dubaichronicle.com

Global Village Dubailand is claimed to be the world’s largest tourism, leisure and entertainment project. It is the region’s first cultural, entertainment, family and shopping destination. Every year, it has 6 million visitors over an area of 17,200,000 sq ft (1,600,000 m2).

Global Village started out in the form of a number of kiosks in 1996 located on the Creek Side opposite to Dubai Municipality. It then later shifted to the Oud Metha Area near Wafi City for 5 years.Today, Global Village has 6 million visitors at its current location in DubaiLand. (wikipedia)

This is how it looks like from afar, during the day, 30 minutes early before the gates opened.

Mom and Inigo at the entrance gate

Global Village has over 26 pavilions each representing different countries. We went around the village for 4 1/2 hours try to sample each country’s culture. It was like going around the world for 4.5 hours!

So are you ready to go around the world with us? Here you go…

Starting off with our current home…

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

YEMEN

We tried different kinds of honey from Yemen. Eventually, we liked the “mountain flowers” honey and bought a jar so we’ll have natural Yemen honey for our pancakes.

INDIA

We liked the design of their pavilion.

SPAIN

SYRIA

The carpets in Syria are very nice.

QATAR

Of course, this trip will not be complete without a visit to our beloved home country…

PHILIPPINES!

MOROCCO

THAILAND

TUNISIA

LEBANON

EGYPT

IRAQ

AFGHANISTAN

VIETNAM

AFRICA

PAKISTAN

CHINA

MALAYSIA

SRI LANKA

IRAN

EUROPE

This looks like a very interesting place to visit. I would love to look at all the different things for sale. That ferris wheel looks pretty big 🙂

Definitely an interesting place to visit! Sad that it’s closing in 9 days time. They only set this up from winter to spring and closes during summer. I didn’t get to take a lot of pictures of the things that are sold in each pavilions because of time constraint, but I did have a few nice ones I’ll share later.
Oh yeah, the ferris wheel IS big, and we tried riding on it. My son was not afraid at all.
      Thanks for visiting.

That’s amazing. But I guess that’s what you can do when you have all the money in the world. 🙂
    Thanks for the tour!

And I always enjoy your comments and visits to my f-stop fantasy blog at https://fstopfantasy.wordpress.com/
I have three blogs and have a hard time keeping up with everyone, so I can’t recall if you’ve visited any of my other ones. 🙂

Oh no.. we didn’t spend a lot coz we didn’t buy a lot of things 🙂 And I think most of the money spent there went to the rides at the amusement park 🙂
I enjoy my visits to your blog. But I’m not sure if I have clicked your other blogs. I’ll have a peek today.
Thanks for coming over and commenting 🙂

No, no, no. I wasn’t talking about you, Nelson. HeeHee. I was talking about the emirate who runs Dubai. I He obviously has all the money in the world to build this wonderful place, as well as the tallest building in the world, to say nothing of that island he built to put nice housing on. No, I didn’t mean you, although I am envious to visit such a place as this. ;o

going around the world without a visa and the hassle of towing heavy luggages is so inviting!

some of my immediate family and relatives are residing and working in abu dhabi and they’ve been to dubai and other nearby emirates. they’ve been raving about your location and now, i know what they mean. such a beautiful place; i hope one day we get a chance too to visit middle east.

Hi Kris, thanks for the visit. It’s a yearly event, usually on winter time when people can go around without sweating a lot. Summer here is really hooooot so they couldn’t do it all year long. This particular one opened in November and will be closing this week. They will reopen again this November.
Hmmm yeah I didn’t see Canada’s pavilion, not even US. Most of the countries who participated were from Asia. I hope this year Canada joins so I could have a taste of Canadian products 😀
